Light Italian course — lessons plus structured guided self-study
Light is the format for students who need a fully documented weekly commitment — for a study visa, for a residence permit renewal, for academic credit — but who cannot or do not want to be in a classroom every morning. Daily in-class lessons, plus 2 hours per day of structured guided self-study designed and tracked by our instructors. Same documented commitment as Standard, lighter daily timetable, more accessible price.
How the format works
Daily in-class lessons
Reduced morning sessions with a teacher — same level, same method, same teachers as Standard. The classroom hours are real classroom hours.
2 hours/day of structured guided self-study
The self-study time follows a written plan from your instructor: reading, listening, grammar work, written tasks, vocabulary. It is reviewed in class. It is not "free time".
Documented weekly commitment
Total weekly commitment is comparable to Standard. Documentation is issued in a format consulates and prefectures accept for study-visa applications and residence permit renewals.
More accessible price
Lower price than Standard, because the in-class hours are reduced. You pay for teaching, not for documentation.
Who Light is for
Light is right for you if you are working a part-time or remote job during the day, you are managing childcare, you are on a tight budget but still need a fully documented commitment, or you are renewing a residence permit and need continuity of a study programme without a full classroom load. Students who use Light well make the same progress as Standard students — but the self-study discipline is on them.
If you want maximum classroom hours and the simplest visa narrative, choose Standard instead.
Honest disclosure: Light requires discipline
Light works only if you actually do the guided self-study. Students who treat the self-study hours as optional plateau quickly and do not pass exams. We tell every Light applicant this on the call, not after enrolment. If you are honest with yourself about discipline, Light is excellent value; if you are not, Standard is the safer choice.
